The EZ2 Connect MDx automates prefilled cartridge-based workflows to process up to 24 clinical samples at the same time. This IVD benchtop instrument automatically pierces the sealed cartridges, heats samples for incubation, and automates pipetting of beads, buffers and even enzymes. Its intuitive touchscreen interface makes it easy to use, even for new lab workers. And with its remote connectivity features (USB, LIS and QIAsphere connection), you can monitor your runs and manage your instrument even from outside the lab.
You can process a wide range of clinical samples (plasma, serum, cerebrospinal fluid, stool, nasopharyngeal swabs in UTM, gram-positive bacteria samples) with dedicated DSP kits and an increasing range of research kits. EZ2 Connect MDx Kits run with preprogrammed protocols. Meet your lab’s need for throughput, time constraints, reproducibility and flexibility with EZ2 Connect MDx.
The EZ2 Connect MDx helps diagnostic labs attain a whole new level of flexibility and convenience by automating nucleic acid extraction from a wide variety of sample types for both IVD and research workflows.
Speed up your response time, increase efficiency and reduce risk of user errors. Increase your lab throughput by processing up to 24 samples all at the same time.
The EZ2 Connect MDx is also QIAsphere-ready, so you can monitor your runs and manage your instrument remotely by installing the QIAsphere app on your preferred tablet or smartphone or by accessing the QIAsphere web app through your laptop or desktop browser. The QIAGEN LIMS Connector*, an application programming interface, allows the EZ2 Connect MDx to exchange information with most common laboratory information systems (LIMs) for comprehensive traceability.
*The installation of QIAGEN LIMS Connector must be performed by a QIAGEN Representative. QIAGEN offers a dedicated service to establish the communication between the EZ2 Connect MDx and your LIMS system. If you wish QIAGEN to set up such a connection, contact your QIAGEN Sales Representative to request a quotation.
The EZ2 Connect MDx uses a piercing mechanism to open prefilled and sealed reagent cartridges. It then aspirates and dispenses samples and reagents with a 24-channel pipettor head. If heating is required during the workflow (e.g., during lysis), an on-board heating system controls the temperature of the liquids. Nucleic acid binding, washing and elution are all done automatically with in-tip magnetic bead technology (see “Expanded automation” capabilities).
The dedicated EZ2 Connect MDx software supports quick and easy run setup using a touchscreen and preinstalled protocols. The software provides two operation modes – research and IVD. Following the illustrated instructions on the touchscreen display, the user scans a DSP kit bar code (Q-Card), chooses the suitable preinstalled protocol, loads labware and samples onto the EZ2 Connect MDx worktable and starts a run (see “EZ2 Connect MDx features”). During the run, the instrument lyses, washes, binds and elutes the nucleic acids automatically. Once the run is over, the QIAsphere App notifies the user that the run is completed, and the user returns to the machine to collect their purified nucleic acids (see “Three simple steps to isolate DNA and RNA”).
Nucleic acids purified using the EZ2 Connect MDx and the appropriate QIAGEN kits — both DSP and research (MBA) kits — can be used for sensitive analytical detection in downstream assays for IVD applications.
The EZ2 Connect MDx is compatible with EZ1 DSP Kits, EZ1&2 Kits and EZ2 Kits.
The EZ2 Connect MDx combines the ease of use, process safety and robustness with increased throughput and cutting-edge digital capabilities. The instrument can be used in research mode with research (MBA) kits or in the dedicated IVD mode with DSP kits and protocols for diagnostic workflows.
