How long can blood samples be stored before sample preparation using the EZ1 DSP DNA Blood system?

We recommend using fresh blood samples. Storage of samples for up to 3 days at 25°C leads to significant reduction in DNA yield and integrity. For long-term storage, store blood samples at -70°C. This helps to minimize the reduction in yield and integrity due to DNA degradation that occurs following storage at room temperature (15-25°C) or at 2-8°C. However, no negative effect on PCR was observed by storage at room temperature, 2-8°C, -70°C.
