The initiative REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals) of the European Union is relevant to any Life Science or MDx companies who want to sell their products on the European market. The initiative aims to regulate and limit the usage and disposal of “Substances of Very High Concern” (SVHC). Detergents widely used in the molecular biology industry are included in the European Authorization list (Annex XIV). Therefore their use is highly regulated.
