Product Details

GeneRead Databank is designed to streamline the operation of your GeneReader NGS System. By managing the movement of run data between the GeneReader workstation, the central file storage of the QCI Powerstation and file archives, you can be sure that there is always adequate disc space to operate your GeneReader instrument, while keeping all run data available for future reference.

Principle

Up to 400 GB of data can be generated during a typical GeneReader run (of three flow cells and 157 cyces). As the hard disc on the GeneReader workstation is capable of storing a maximum of 5 runs worth of data, In the case that the GeneReader workstation hard disc is full, the GeneReader will cease to operate. It is therefore necessary to move run data from here to other storage devices in order to ensure uninterrupted operation of the GeneReader NGS System.
GeneRead Databank was designed to automate the transfer of data between the GeneReader workstation hard disc and medium and long term data storage devices. Supported long term storage devices include Network Attached Storage in the customers network and Microsoft Azure BLOB storage.
Some of the data created during a GeneReader run are only temporarily, used for primary analysis to create FASTQ files. Once the primary analysis of the run data is complete, these data are no longer needed. GeneRead Databank also automatically cleans up this temporary data to save disk space and to reduce costs for the midterm and long-term storage of data.

Procedure

GeneRead Databank automatically first moves GeneReader Software data to be archived to the central file storage on the QCI Powerstation for mid-term storage, then later moves the data to a file archive for long-term storage. A user can move this data back to the central file storage on the QCI Powerstation in the event he or she needs access to this data.
A user with "Administrator" rights can configure and activate the policies which control when and which files shall be deleted or moved from the GeneReader workstation to the central file storage or from the central file storage to the archive.
GeneRead Databank supports management of data generated by the GeneReader for Advanced Process Flow (APF) instrument configuration. Previous versions of the GeneReader are not supported.
GeneRead Databank is based on a client-server architecture. The core application runs on a server. The software is accessed and used with a browser.

Applications

GeneRead Link enables automated data transfer from the GeneReader work station to mid and long term storage devices.
