Principle

The QIAamplifier 96 is a stand-alone end-point PCR cycler with a 7-inch color touchscreen and an easy-to-use software interface. Users can choose between different programming modes and templates and a quick-start list.

Fast ramping, highest accuracy block control

The QIAamplifier 96 controls the sample block temperature without under- or overshooting the programmed target temperature. The innovative temperature control system maximizes experimental reproducibility and achieves outstanding accuracy.

High-performance smart lid

The heated lid of the QIAamplifier 96 thermal cycler is equipped with smart lid technology with a temperature range from 30°C to 110°C. An integrated slip clutch always maintains constant contact pressure, regardless of shape and height of the plasticware. This optimizes the contact between the sample block well and the walls of the plasticware, resulting in reproducible conditions. A rubber seal in the lid encapsulates the space surrounding the sample block. This closed space increases the sample block temperature uniformity and prevents condensation formation during the final PCR cooling step. A short equilibration period during the first heating of the lid also contributes to a completely balanced atmosphere above the sample block.

Linear Gradient Tool for assay optimization

The Linear Gradient Tool facilitates finding the optimum annealing temperature under experimental conditions. The desired temperature increment for the gradient is programmed after entry of an annealing temperature for the block center. The specific block design and electronics execute a temperature gradient along the long side of the block as linear as technically possible. This means maximum usefulness of the gradient results.

  • Gradient temperature range: 20°C to 99°C
  • Maximum gradient 20°C across the block with 0.1°C increments
  • Control accuracy: ±0.1°C

Robust and designed to last

The sample block of the QIAamplifier 96 is perfectly sealed to prevent condensation from coming into contact with either the Peltier elements located below the sample block or with other electronic components. This grants protection from corrosion and condensation and extends the lifetime of the instrument.

Whisper quiet

The airflow of the QIAamplifier 96 is optimized to keep the maximum noise level of the instrument down to an extremely low 45 decibels. This efficient airflow system also means that the cycler takes up very little space. In addition to the compact footprint, a small clearance zone of just 10 cm is required for sufficient airflow – much lower than that of other thermal cyclers.
